The Brazilian-born DP admits it was, “challenging for me to try and translate visually,” such an important part of British history. At the same time, “that might have been one of the most interesting aspects,” of his hiring, since, “I feel less obliged to be… formal in my approach to that story.” He adds, “I’m not British, so I don’t need to respect any specific rules, and I’m probably freer to try other stuff.”
Goldman recently received a BAFTA TV nomination for the series. He’s known mostly for his film work, including “Sin Nombre,” “Jane Eyre,” “August: Osage County,” and “Trash,” on which he first worked with “The Crown” director and executive producer Stephen Daldry.
